Service: 11 o'clock, Monday, April 9, 2018 Place: First Baptist Church of Lithonia Visitation: 3-6 Sunday afternoon Place: First Baptist Church of Lithonia Gerald Thomas 'Gerry' Withers, age 76, of Lithonia, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018. A native of Lithonia, Gerry attended Lithonia High School, Class of 1957; served honorably in the U.S. Army in the early 1960's and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia. He was a brick mason and later at his home, operated a vegetable stand in the summer months and firewood in the winter months, where he made life-long friends-because that was his character. Gerry always enjoyed meeting people and forming lasting relationships. He had the ability to always leave an impression on whomever he met. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and Sarah Withers, and brothers, Keith and Ricky Withers. He is survived by his son, John David Withers of Lithonia; daughters, Jennifer Withers Russell and her husband, George, of Jefferson, and Jessica Withers Nunery of Social Circle; eight grandchildren and the mother of his children, Mae Withers. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, April 9, at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, with Dr. Jim Martin and Rev. Bob Lindsay officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park, with military honors. The family will receive friends 3-6 Sunday afternoon at the church.
