Obituary

Gerald Franklin Loggins, age 84, of Dacula, formerly of Decatur, died May 15, 2023. He grew up in Henry and Rockdale Counties as a child and was a graduate of Henry County High School. A carpet layer by trade, he worked for Ben Woods for over 30 years and DeKalb County School System for over 20 years before retiring. Gerald loved going to church and fellowshipping with other believers. He also enjoyed fishing (especially with his son); gardening; spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he loved dearly; drawing pictures of old barns; and driving with family members, seeing how 'things have changed'. Gerald was a true Christian who witnessed wherever he went, never in a hurry and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Judy Moss Loggins; parents, Coleman and Stella Loggins; sister, Francis Hughes; brothers, Willis Loggins and Charles Loggins; and son-in-law, Jim Conaway. Surviving are his children, Sherry Conaway of Conyers, Preston Loggins and his wife, Donna, of Bethlehem, Wanda Westbrook and her husband, Kevin, of Decatur, Becky Slocum and her husband, Shane, of Dacula, and Tammie Craft of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Ashley Uber and husband, John, Brooke Flege and husband, Bill, Leann Pracht and husband, Erich, Whitney Leavell and husband, Casey, Melissa Segrest and husband Jonathan, Katie Morris and husband, Will, Seth Johnson and wife, Taylor, Chris Westbrook, Hannah Slocum, Ashley Westbrook, Aubrey Richardson and husband, Trevor, Jenna Slocum, and Mollie Richardson; great grandchildren, Kirsten, Karli, Madison, Bryce, Brantley, Paisleigh, Wyatt, Sadie, and Emory; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, May 19, at Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Orr officiating. The interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
