George "Jack" Scoggins, also known as Rabbit to some, was born on January 3, 1941 to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Scoggins Sr. of Alpharetta. Jack passed away on May 11, surrounded by his wife of almost 35 years, Mary Emma Gregory Scoggins of Lithonia; brother in law, James Gregory of Woodstock; daughters, Maryjane Webb Phillips and her husband, Tony, of Between, and Martha Anne Webb Simpson and her husband, Alan, of Mansfield. Jack enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Donnie Simpson and his wife, Leslie, of Blairsville, Michael Phillips of Between, Stanley Simpson and his wife, Taryn, of Mansfield, and Chance Simpson of Mansfield. Great-Grandchilren are Cody, Emma, and Stanleigh Simpson of Mansfield, and Sadie Simpson of Blairsville. Jack had several nieces and nephews including Hubert Scroggins and his wife, Becky, of Alpharetta. He will also be missed by a longtime friend, whom helped care for him, Gerald Lawrence of Lithonia. Jack retired from a job he loved as a Heavy Equipment Operator with DeKalb County Roads and Bridges. He had many friends at DeKalb County, some of whom will serve as pallbearers.
