Fred T. Stephenson, 97, of Statham, formerly of Lithonia, died November 12, 2017. Fred served as a S/SGT in the United States Army, fighting with honor in Europe in World War II. He retired from the Ford Hapeville plant after 30 years. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Sue, daughter, Janice Plunkett; parents, Samuel and Ollie; brother, Hiram; sisters, Heiti, Doris, Ruth and Mildred. Surviving are son, Larry Stephenson and wife, Judy, of Statham; sister, Lurlene; grandchildren, Audra Davis, Sam Stephenson, Jennifer Hanna, Julie Rhodes, Joey Ferro; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held 1 o'clock, Thursday, November 16, in the Lithonia chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
