Frances Peeler Phillips, age 79, of Lithonia, died February 27, 2021. She was born to Jethro and Lona Peeler in Campobello, South Carolina, where she grew up. Frances was a graduate of Winthrop College where she received a B.S. in Education. After moving to Georgia, she taught at Newton County High School for one year, then stayed home with her children, until she worked for Decatur Federal Bank which eventually became Wachovia Bank for 33 years, until her retirement. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, formerly Redan Baptist Church for many years. Frances enjoyed reading, going to yard sales and thrift stores, attending weddings, working crossword puzzles, and going on vacations and trips with family and friends. But her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and her dear grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Jethro Peeler; mother, Lona Estelle Morris Peeler; and grandsons, Brandon Phillips and Cole Xuereb. Surviving are her children, Jay Phillips of Stockbridge, Kim Phillips Moon and her husband, Jeff, of Social Circle; Shannon Xuereb and her husband, Joey, of Navarre, Florida; brother, James Peeler, and his wife, Janice, of Campobello, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jessica Moon Harris and her husband, Mike, Dustin Moon, Avery Swords, Julian Xuereb and his wife, Hailey, Aliana Xuereb Myers and her husband, Matt, Victoria Jeske, Caitlin Jeske, and Chris Phillips and his wife, Emilea; great-grandchildren, Presley and Brecken Phillips; nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, March 11, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park.
