Frances Joanne Carter, age 89, of Conyers, Georgia, died June 3, 2024, but not before she had a chance to laugh, love, and dance her way through life! She was born August 4, 1934, in Pembroke, Georgia, one of 12 children to the late Marshall and Alvarine White. For many years she was a home care nurse, a calling that allowed her to extend her loving nature to countless individuals over the years, family and non-family alike. She was, in the words of her son, Eric, "a good mama" and will be remembered as a unique, spirited woman who loved a good gamble, a great dance, and an even better laugh. Joanne is survived by her sons and their wives, Eric & Penny Whitley of Plains, Keith & Darlene Whitley of Monticello; daughter, Stephanie Whitley of Flowery Branch; sister, Joyce Mitchell; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, June 10, 2024 in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Martin officiating and interment following in Hillandale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home, from 10 - 11 AM.
