Florence (Floss) Roberts Robinson, age 93 of Lithonia, GA died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Yellow Brick House. Born on March 31,1927, she was the daughter of the late Alton Bertow Roberts and Mercer Stephenson Roberts. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1946 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education at the age of 19. Floss was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. On December 27, 1946, she married Claud Edgar Robinson, Jr. of Greensboro, GA. Growing up she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia and later the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro.
Family was very important to Floss. She and her sister Sue Rhyne and brother Alton Roberts regularly gathered their families to celebrate special occasions and to just enjoy each other. Laughter, good food, and a fun time was guaranteed. Floss also enjoyed her students, teaching 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades at Redan Elementary School. Today she is fondly remembered by many former students including her hospice nurse, Sherry King. Floss and husband Claud opened Granite Shoals Marina on Lake Oconee in 1979. They enjoyed living on the lake and especially enjoyed lake time with their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Floss and Claud are well remembered for their
lifelong support of their beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Flags were unfurled and magnets placed on their vehicle for the trek to Athens and beyond on game day. They always counted themselves lucky to be in the stands for the dawgs' Sugar Bowl win and National Championship. In 1998 Floss and Claud moved to Pinetop, Az where they spent three adventurous years out west before returning to Greensboro.
Floss is survived by a daughter, Susan R. Kelly and husband Warren of Comer, GA; six grandchildren, William Drew Ferro and wife Megan of Fitchburg, WI; Sally Ferro Lanzel of Mesa, AZ; Stephen Robinson Ferro of Atlanta, GA; Rich Robinson and wife Michelle of Conyers, GA; Philip Keith Robinson and wife Kasey of Greensboro, GA; and, Ezekial Charles Robinson and wife Amber of Greensboro, GA; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley Lanzel, Sarah Anderson (Bailey), Seth Lanzel, Michael Johnston (Selene), Jacob Ferro, Luke Ferro, Dane Robinson, Maddox Robinson, Shelby Rae Robinson, and Kaylee Robinson; and, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
