Obituary

Eugene Scott Hall, Sr., 92, of Conyers, Georgia, died August 17, 2024. Born on October 21, 1931, in Rome, Georgia, Gene was a man of many talents and wore many hats throughout his life. He served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the Destroyer USS Coates. His service continued in the Navy Reserves until retirement in 1977, and later with the Coast Guard Auxiliary until 2017. Gene had an illustrious career in law enforcement, including his service in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, where he retired as Assistant Chief Investigator after 30 years. His accolades during his time there were many; however, one of the most notable and of highest honor was his invitation to attend the FBI Academy which he accepted with pride. Following his formal retirement, he went to work for the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office serving as chief of their auxiliary squad. He was later hired as a deputy and was named Deputy of the Year in 1990 by RCSO. His interests and talents extended beyond his professional life and included golf, fishing, and professional photography. Gene was also an accomplished gunsmith and private pilot. In keeping with his patriotism, he was a loyal member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myra Janell Porter Hall; daughters and sons-in-law, Anne & Trev Martin, Leigh & Keith Cleghorn, step-daughters, Deborah Blanton, Donna & Buddy Denman; grandchildren, Ryan Cleghorn, Katie Rawdon and her husband, Chris; great-grandson, Nolan Rawdon; several nieces, nephews and extended family. To honor his wishes, no services for Gene will be held. Those desiring may make contributions in his memory to Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, warriorfoundation.org. We invite all who knew and loved Gene to share condolences, special memories and photographs on his memorial page.
