Always willing and able to give love and support to family and friends, while expecting nothing in return, Elsie Ree Wilson died peacefully April 20, 2014, on Easter Sunday. She was 85 years old. The fourth of five children, Elsie Ree James was born on April 22, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia. She married James A. "Red" Wilson on December 1, 1945, and moved to Lithonia, Georgia. Over the years, Elsie and Red worked together, running Red Wilson's Grocery Store in Lithonia, and then Wilson's Auction and Flea Market in Conyers, Georgia. Together they raised three children. They were married 53 years before Red died on June 24, 1997. Forever the loving, devoted and protective mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elsie is survived by her son, James S. Wilson and wife, Lisa; daughters Renee W. Shirley and husband, Norm; Pamela W. Griggs and husband, Tony; and several grand and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, April 23, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at East Lithonia Baptist Church, 2219 Jacksonville Rd., Lithonia, GA, 30058. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Blood Service.
