Obituary

Edwin Hugh Dailey, age 98 of Stockbridge, formerly of Lithonia, died Friday, June 24, 2022. Born in Fairburn, Georgia, to Hugh and Annie Dailey, he was a graduate of Campbell High School class of '41. Ed served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from Rutherford Equipment Company as a buyer when he was 78 years old. Ed was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Lithonia for many years and you could always find him welcoming church goers each Sunday morning. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed watching the games on television. He also enjoyed swing music from the '40's; traveling; telling jokes; and spending time with his family. He was known for his wonderful banana pudding, which others would often ask him to bring to gatherings. His secret ingredient was 'white chocolate pudding', which he accidentally used one day instead of vanilla pudding. (Now you know the secret!) Ed was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Mary, and his second wife of 7 years, Ann; his son, Butch Dailey; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Patia Connell of Stockbridge; sister, Marilyn Shields of Griffin; brother, Dr. Eugene Dailey and his wife, Sara, of McDonough; granddaughters, Kelley Crum, Dena Breese and Leah Connell; great-grandchildren, Katie Bowles and Rylee Breese; great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Bowles and Kameron Bowles; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, June 27, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Lindsay, Dr. Jim Martin and Dr. Eugene Dailey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park.
