Charles Edward "Eddie" Pruett, age 68, of Wedowee, Alabama, formerly of Lithonia, Georgia died November 25, 2020. Born in Atlanta, Georgia to James "Bud" and Betty Jane Pruett, he was a 1970 graduate of Lithonia High School and attended University of Georgia where he was a member of the "Dixie Redcoat Marching Band". Eddie was an avid sportsman, playing softball, basketball, golf, and enjoyed coaching basketball, where he met his future wife, "Miss Alison". He loved the Braves and always attended the UGA football games. Eddie loved spending time at the lake and with his dog, "Riggins", but especially with his family. He and "Miss Alison" drive everywhere together. Where you saw one, you would usually see the other. After retiring from AT&T, Lucent, Avaya with 33 years of service, Eddie was a volunteer fire fighter for Auslin Chapel, Alabama; was the Minister of Music in his younger days at Calvary Baptist Church and Highpoint Baptist Church in Covington, GA, and Moreland Springs Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA. Eddie was ordained as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia. He was very involved in his grandchildren's lives never missing one of their games if at all possible. Eddie served as the Board Chairman and Festival Chairman of the Macon International Cherry Blossom Festival for many years and currently chairman of the Chairman's Club and also a member of Master Gardeners of the East Central Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremy Kyle Pruett; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Morris. Surviving are his loving wife, of 45 years, Alison Morris Pruett of Wedowee, AL; sons, James Bowen Pruett and his wife, Lindsey, of Milton, GA and Robert Edward Pruett and his wife, Joanna, of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Glenn Elizabeth, Cameron, Ren, Parker, Coleman, Aubrey, and Emma; aunt, Betty Darby of Lithonia; father-in-law, Fred "Nerc" Morris of Lithonia, GA; brother-in-law, Richard Morris and his wife, Hazel, of Lilburn, GA; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2'oclock, Sunday, November 29 at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, with Rev. Bob Lindsay and Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1-2 o'clock prior to the service at the church.
