Drewey William (Bill) Hendry Sr.,77 of Conyers, also know as " Caboose the Clown", died February 2, 2021. He was born in Winnsboro, La to Drewey M. Hendry and Lillian Tarver Hendry where he spent his childhood. After high school he served in the United States Army which brought him to Atlanta, Ga where he met and married the love of his life, Jeannette.
Bill retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. On June 8, 1973, he became a mason in E. A. Minor Lodge. He held many titles over the years, in 2014, he served as Worshipful Master of E.A Minor Lodge No 603, which became his "second home" and on May 7, 2018, when he served as The Knight Commander of the Temple. Bill joined the Yaarab Shrine on December 8, 1982 as a member in the unit Red Devil Clowns, he was always about collecting funds to help the children in Scottish Rite Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Drewey M. Hendry and Lillian Tarver Hendry; brothers, Floyd Hendry and Ralph Hendry.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years Jeanette R. Hendry; son, D. W. Hendry Jr. and his wife, Elaine; stepdaughter, Virginia Vitro; three grandsons, D. W. Hendry III and his wife, Michelle, Drew Hendry, Carl Vogel and his wife, Dana; granddaughter, Leeann Hendry Rutledge and her husband, Tim; adopted nephew Travis Craig and his wife, Robin; sisters, Maxine Hendry Osten and her husband, Bud, Diana Hendry Scriber and her husband, Marvin, Mercill Hendry Linder and her husband, James; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, all who he loved dearly. Interment will be in Winnsboro, La in the family cemetery. A memorial will be held at later date due to the Covid Pandemic.
