Donald Gary Jackson

Donald Gary Jackson “Don”, age 79, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, passed away September 25, 2026, at a place he loved—the golf course.

Don was born and raised in Dalton, Georgia, the third child of Myers and Blanche Jackson. He graduated from Dalton High School in 1965 and remained connected to many of his classmates through their monthly lunch gatherings.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Don served his country honorably and earned numerous service medals during his time in the military. His outgoing personality and natural ability to connect with people served him well in sales, where he spent much of his career at the family business, Lithonia Furniture Store. Over the years, he also worked in carpet sales and real estate. Don’s passion for golf and people culminated in his role at Lanier Islands Golf Course, where he worked for the last 11 years.

Don also had a well-known sweet tooth and was never one to turn down a treat.

Family was an important part of Don’s life. He cherished his 40 years with his wife, Carole Croley Jackson; took pride in his sons, Dylan and Andrew, and his daughter-in-law, Angie; and especially enjoyed being “Gramps” to his granddaughter, Rylie. He was also looking forward to welcoming another granddaughter, Cecilia, who is on the way. Additionally surviving are his sister, Cheryl Raper; several nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Sonny Jackson; and his sister, Dianne Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, at 12Stone Church – Flowery Branch Campus, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held immediately following with Pastor Frank Haynes officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
