Donald (Donny) Eugene Adams, age 74, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022 after battling a long-term illness. Donny was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army's elite 82nd Airborne Artillery Division who served in the Vietnam War and earned the Vietnam Service medal, the National Defense medal, the Army Commendation medal, and was presented with the Bronze Star medal and the Purple Heart medal for his heroic efforts. Donny was born on November 9, 1948 in Greenville, SC. When Donny was just 19, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and immediately sent to Vietnam and stationed outside of Ho Chi Minh City supporting Operation Delaware at Camp Rodriguez. Donny served our country until he was honorably discharged in 1969. Donny had a passion for fishing and hunting, loved being out on the lake or in the north Georgia mountains, he appreciated a good cigar, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR racing, the Atlanta Braves, and talking to his many friends. Donny is survived his wife Toni Stephens Adams, brothers Samuel (Sammy) and Randy, and sisters Glenda (Carroll) and Brenda (Kennedy). He is also survived by his step-daughter Shelly Anderson and step-sons Scott Stephens and Sloan Stephens. Preceded him in his death are his brothers Thomas and Roger, along with his father Hillard "Chief" Adams and mother Martha Joyce Slaten Adams. There will be a service held in the next several weeks to honor Donny's life and service with Military Honors.
