David Hollis Ford, loving husband, son, father, PawPaw and brother, age 70, of Covington, Georgia, died April 12, 2024. Being born into a Coast Guard family, David's childhood was filled with adventures in many different places and nurtured his love for nautical decoration and design. His keen appreciation for architecture was reflected in his work as a structural engineer, a career he pursued for over 50 years. As an avid sports fan, he played high school football and continued to cheer on his beloved Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Atlanta Braves. He had a love for cars, hot rods, and NASCAR and found immense joy in flowers and being outdoors. David was a devoted member of Belmont Baptist Church for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.A. Ford; maternal grandparents, John Hollis Mize & Mamie Mize; paternal grandparents, Luna Alexander Ford, Sr. & Lily Gresham Ford.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marynell Ford; mother, Annette Ford; his 3 children, Daniel & Emily Ford and their children, Hannah, Josiah & Tabitha; Missy and Joey Hyrns and their children, Isaac, Sofia, Scarlett, Chloe & Katie; Mindy and Joe Adkins and their children, James, Titus, Josh & Lydia; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Tom Blanton; nieces, Natalie and Stephanie; as well as cousins, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Belmont Baptist Church, 3275 Iris Drive SE, Conyers, Georgia, with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 1-2 PM.
