Christopher James Croley, age 67, of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Born in Atlanta to Ester and Kitty Croley, Chris grew up in Lithonia, where he was the valedictorian for the 1971 graduating class of Lithonia High School and attended DeKalb College and the University of Georgia. Chris taught math at Atlanta Tech for 2 years, worked for many years at Lithonia Furniture, Croley Furniture, JJ's BBQ, as a real estate agent for Southern Landmark Realty and KC Interiors & Contracting. He enjoyed cooking, serving, and hosted many gatherings at his home. As a master carpenter he loved wood working and built four of his homes. His greatest delight was spending time with his family, going to the mountains, the beach, Stone Mountain, boating at the lake, and attending any event that his children or grandchildren were a part of. Chris was a member of First Baptist Church of Loganville for the past 26 years, where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of various committees. In his younger years he was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithonia and later a member of Redan First Baptist for 12 years. He truly had a servant's heart, loving spirit and was a friend to all. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Kitty Croley and father, Ester Croley, Jr. Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy Hardy Croley; daughter, Michelle Croley Gilley and her husband, Donovan, of Monroe; sons, Matthew Croley and his wife, Mollie, of Augusta, and Joshua Croley and Chelsie, of Monroe; grandchildren, Trenton, Audrey, Chandler, Landon, Bella, Ashlyn, Brantley, Jackson, Landen and Christopher; sister, Carole Jackson, and her husband, Don, of Flowery Branch; sister-in-law, Reta Christopher and her husband, Dennis, of Mansfield; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Tom, Dylan, Andrew, Ali, Anna and Thomas; by his extended family of Kentucky and many friends. Chris's service date and time have changed and will be announced at a later date.
