Charley Doss Swann, age 88, of Conyers, died January 2, 2021. Born and raised in Conyers, Georgia, to Joel and Lillie Mae Swann, he joined the army and later he and his wife returned to Conyers when his daughter, Janet, was two. Charley retired from the Department of Transportation, where he worked as a truck driver for many years and was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Conyers. Charley was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Mae Gaddis, and Eunice Smith; brothers, Edward Brown Swann and two infant brothers. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Faye Swann, of Conyers; daughter, Janet Thorne and her husband, Leonard, of Conyers; son, Chris Swann of Conyers; brother, Albert Swann of Conyers; five grandchildren, Leonard Thorne, III, and his wife, Tara, of Carrollton, GA, Charley Thorne and his wife, Lisa, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, James Thorne and his wife, Brittny, of Loganville, Sadie Swann and Joel Swann, both of Bishop, GA; ten great grandchildren, Owen Elliott, Lily, Emily, Wesley, Ellasyn, Lucas, Adeline, Noah, and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, January 9, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conyers, with Pastor Scott Richardson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conyers, GA.
