Charles Robert Payne, age 74, of Conyers, died September 27, 2015. Born June 8, 1941 to Burl and Mary Payne, he was a plumber for over 40 years and worked for Charlie Lowe Plumbing. Charles is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Cody, Annie Mae Broadnax, Betty Thibadeau, and Kathleen Seabolt; brothers, Bill Payne and Joe Payne. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Hazel B. Payne; daughter, Pam Payne Kelly Sawyer and husband, Ron, of Conyers; son, Jeff Payne of Conyers; sisters, Burleen Forrester and husband, L.B., of Lithonia, Joanne Collins and husband, Joe, of Jersey, Eula Bert of Lithonia, and Lois Wilson of Covington; grandchildren Tara Gaddis, of Conyers, Jessica Payne of Valdosta, and Chuck Watkins of Conyers; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Watkins, Lexy Gaddis and Fisher Watkins, all of Conyers. A graveside service will be held 3 o'clock Wednesday at East Lithonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Don Chastain officiating.
