Charles Wesley George, of Woodstock, Georgia, entered heaven with Jesus on Wednesday, September 21st. Charlie passed peacefully in his sleep under hospice care after battling rapidly declining health. He was born in Lithonia, Georgia on March 30, 1942, to Lewis and Rachel George. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rachel George, his sister, Lynda George Dillman (Jack) aunts and uncles, Evelyn (Ralph) Reagan, Virginia Ragsdale, Bobby Ragsdale, Sue (Fred), Lou (Dinky), Lois (Doc), Helen, Horace (Gladys), and Walter George. Charlie is survived by his brother, Ronnie George (Phyllis), Uncle Billy Ragsdale and Aunt Eula Mae Ragsdale, first cousins, Charlotte Trammell, Shirley McAnallly, Tammy Davis, Tessa Clark, Chuck Ragsdale, Larry Stephenson, Toni, Terri and Ted McCorkle, Larry White, nieces, Lori Dillman Frix (Roger), Ann Dillman Cornett (Bryan), Shannon George Groover (Michael), nephew Chad George (Jennifer) great nieces/ nephews, Randall Frix (Jenny), Ryan Frix, Ashley Frix Hardigree (Ellie), Brayden and Marissa Groover, Joshua and Kylie Cornett, Everett, Asher and Isaac George, great great nieces/nephews Jackson, Ella and Wyatt Frix & Kodi Hardigree. Additionally, Charlie leaves behind many loved Ragsdale and George extended family members and special friends who all had an impact on his life. Charlie was absolutely loved and adored deeply by his entire family and friends. Charlie's childhood was spent with his parents, Lynda and Ronnie in their home on Hayden Quarry Rd. in Lithonia, Georgia, where they were members of Turner Hill Baptist Church . He graduated from Lithonia High School in 1960 and participated in the band, basketball, track and baseball wearing #31. After school, Charlie was employed at Southern Bell where he worked for 30 years. He retired from successful career in 1995. During his lifetime, Charlie enjoyed several hobbies where he gained many lifelong friends. He was a musician, baseball (softball) player, bowler and very competitive golfer. Into retirement, Charlie spent a lot of his time with close friends at The Oaks Golf Course. He was also a devoted sports fan of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons. Please join us as we celebrate Charlie's life. His funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, September 25, 2022, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Henry Funeral Home.
