Charles Thomas George, age 93, of Lithonia, Georgia, died February 24, 2025. Born on August 11, 1931, in the very town he spent his entire life, Charles was a proud and lifelong resident of Lithonia. Raised on a farm, he plowed with a mule and learned the value of hard work from a young age, a virtue he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He spent his career as a construction superintendent where his strong work ethic made him very successful. Beyond his work, he was an avid fisherman, a passionate and gifted gardener, and a fervent fan of Braves baseball. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Charles was a member of Rock Springs Primitive Baptist Church and also a member of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Posse for 40 years.
Mr. George was recently preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Carolyn George, and additionally by his daughter, Celeste Dysart; parents, Floyd & Julia George; grandson, Dean Tucker; great-grandson, Jeffrey Hydock; and siblings, Floyd George, Jr., Annie Housworth, Harold Lamar George. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Reba Tucker, Jennifer & Billy Ray Ison, Don Dysart; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony & Rita George, Marty & Sandra George, Scott & Jeanine George; sister, Wynelle Norman; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; as well as his faithful, loving caretaker, Romye Jones.
A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, February 28, 2025, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Elder Herb Newsome officiating and interment following in the Parker Family Cemetery, Conyers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 until service hour.
