Service: 7 o'clock, Thursday evening, August 18, 2016 Place: Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home Visitation: 5-7pm prior to service Place: Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia Catherine (Kitty) Bingham Croley, 88, of Flowery Branch, formerly of Lithonia, Ga passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. Born on January 18, 1928 in Hazard, KY, she was the daughter of the late Taylor Gilbert and Sallie Ann Roberts Bingham. A graduate of Cumberland College in Willaimsburg, KY, she taught school in Dekalb County at Redan and Rock Chapel Elementary Schools and was co-founder of Lithonia Furniture Store. Kitty was preceded in death by five brothers: Benjamin Hurst (3 years), Rufus Roberts, Ralph, Robert (infant), and Taylor Gilbert Jr (TG); and seven sisters: Bonnie Grace, Bertha Alice, Opal Stone, Polly Marie, Edith Pauline, Bess and Amanda Jane. Surviving are her brother David Lee of Louisville, KY, her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher James and Kathy Hardy Croley of Loganville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Carole Melynne and Don Jackson of Flowery Branch; 5 grandchildren, Michelle and Donovan Gilley, Matthew and Joshua Croley, Dylan and Andrew Jackson; six great grandchildren, Chandler and Landon Croley, Brantley Croley, Trenton and Audrey Gilley and Tinsleigh Croley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 7 o'clock, Thursday, August 18, in the Lithonia chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 prior to the service. Her remains will be carried to the Engle- Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard, KY, where a visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20 from noon to 2:00 with a graveside interment service immediately following at Englewood Cemetery in Christopher, KY. The family would like to thank all the many doctors, nurses and staff of Bridgeway Hospice, and Sherry King who cared and treated Kitty with respect during her final days.
