Obituary

Mr. Bobby Lamar Kendall, age 86, of Lithonia died November 5, 2023. Bobby was born in DeKalb County, Georgia and lived in Scottdale during his younger years. This is where he met his loving wife of 63 years Marie Bruce Kendall. Bobby was a plumber by trade but most of all he was a talented guitar player. He and Marie played and sang in a band for most of their lives. They played for many events including the opening of Northlake Mall, festivals, benefits, charity events, music shows, nursing homes, and at church. Many of Bobby's brothers and his sister Lois played instruments and sang. They had a whole band in just their family. Many hours were spent at his mama & daddy's house on Sunday afternoons with all his family picking and singing- what great memories we all have of those days. Bobby enjoyed camping, fishing and a good cup of coffee. He was a proud "Pop" to Tyler and Kaitlyn and a loving gentle father to Terri and Tim. He enjoyed every minute that he could with his kids and grandkids, he was at every ballgame and school event they had. They were the light of his life. He loved his family and friends at Way of The Cross Baptist Church, He always said some of his closest friends attended Way of The Cross and he loved them all- just loving people doing Gods work. It's been a hard year for Bobby after losing his sweet wife Marie last year, he loved and missed her so much but now we know they're together again. He was such a gentle man, he will be missed here on earth but he's with his Jesus and all his family and friends that have gone on before and we can only imagine what a glorious reunion that is. Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Marie (Bruce) Kendall in 2022 and his son, Timothy Lamar Kendall in 2006 as well as his parents, James Andrew Kendall & Lelia (Rudasil) Kendall and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Terri & Mike Peoples; his grandson Tyler (Mary Kate) and granddaughter, Kaitlyn; as well as his sister, Lois George; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend Jimmy Crane. To all our family and friends, Thank You for all your love and prayers during this difficult time. There are no words to describe our gratitude for your heartfelt sympathies.
