Betty Edwards Grizzle

Elizabeth "Betty" Edwards Grizzle, passed away peacefully at her home in Rutledge, Georgia, on April 25, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on January 3, 1933, she was the only daughter of the late Malcolm and Ludell Edwards. Lithonia was her birthplace and where she resided much of her life until her relocation to Rutledge in the year 2000.

Betty dedicated 32 years of her life working as a secretary for Woolworth's Department Store in Atlanta and also worked as an independent hair stylist. She was deeply involved in her faith and was a devoted member of Social Circle United Methodist Church before joining Rutledge United Methodist Church.

Betty loved her home, baking, crafting, being outdoors and tending her flower gardens. She had a natural gift for caring for her plants and creating beautiful spaces that brought her much joy.

Preceding her in death were her parents; beloved husband, L.D. Grizzle; and brother, Raymond Edwards. She is survived by her niece, Melanie Meyer (Roger) and their children, Joseph and Christopher Meyer; nephew, Phillip Edwards (Amelia) and their children, Sarah Kubistek, Tyler, Matthew and Ethan Edwards; cousin and caregiver, Richard Edwards.

A graveside service for Mrs. Grizzle will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hillandale Memorial Park.  The family has entrusted Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with her arrangements and will receive friends there prior to the service on Wednesday from 1-2 PM.
