Alice Barton, age 84, of Covington, Georgia, died May 3, 2024. She was born January 17, 1940, in Lithonia, GA, to the late Curtis and Nancy Goddard. Family card nights, puzzles, and watching Westerns were her cherished hobbies. She had a special bond with her honorary grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Maw." Although not blood related, she considered them her own. Alice was a longtime member of Belmont Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Barton; brother, Charles Goddard. Survivors include her daughters & son-in-law, Brenda & George Butler, Toni Dodson all of Covington; honorary son, Rusty Minar; honorary daughter, Carol Eskew; her four beloved honorary grandchildren, Emily (Christian) Smith, Austin Slaton, Brett Osborn, Isaac Lopez; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating and interment following in Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery, 6910 South Goddard Rd., Lithonia. Her family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 11:30-1 PM.
