Service: 2 o'clock, Thursday, March 29, 2018 Place: Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home Visitation: 1-2pm, prior to the service Place: Henry Funeral Home Benny R. Dowdy, age 77, of Stone Mountain, died March 26, 2018. He was raised in Lithonia, where he attended Rock Chapel Elementary School and Lithonia High School. Benny was the co-founder of D&D Plumbing, where he worked for over 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Dowdy; son, James Anderson; daughters, Debbie Poole, Betsy Land, Donna Massey, Tammie Puckett, Saucy Stallings, and Tina Brodeur; brothers, Dean Dowdy and Jerry Sullens; 17 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, March 29, in the Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association.
