Barbara Thompson, age 80, of Oxford, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 18, 2024. She was a graduate of Druid Hills High School and a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church. A dedicated and loving individual, she devoted her life to her family and the care of those around her. Barbara had a vibrant, outgoing personality and loved to make others laugh. She was also an avid lover of horses and her dogs. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and steadfast friend whose greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Elizabeth Scott, and daughter, Amy Thompson. Survivors include her sister Betty Ann Huglemaier (Doug); her son James Michael Parks Jr. (Elizabeth), daughter Keri Thompson Andre, daughter Jill Thompson (Timothy Burroughs); grandchildren James William Parks, Jordan Parks, Dalton Bailey, Anslie Andre, Lilliana Parks, and Emily Parks; great-grandson, James Michael Parks III. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. We invite all who knew Barbara to leave their memories of her and upload any photos they have to her memorial page.
