Barbara McSwain Ghee, age 86 of Lithonia, died Monday, September 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Weldon H. Ghee; parents, George and Nellie McSwain; and her brother, Claude McSwain. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Tony King and Patsy and Theodore Speaker; son, Mike Ghee; grandchildren, Michael King, Kristen King, Todd Kimsey, Tasha Kimsey, Amy Marcotte and her husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Colin, Aiden, Brooklyn, Garret, and Griffen. Barbara lived most of her life in Redan, raising her children. She worked in retail before she started keeping her grandchildren while their parents worked. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She referred to them as "her babies." Beside her family, she had many friends that she enjoyed seeing over the years, some have passed away or gotten older making it difficult to see each other. The family would like to thank her care givers, whom she referred to as "family," Veronica Gamble, Felita Thomas and Amanda Gomer. Barbara trusted them with her life. The last few months would have been impossible to keep her in her home without them. Her funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Friday, September 17, in the Chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at Redan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 o'clock prior to the service.
