Barbara C. Cheney, age 90, of Loganville, passed away April 19, 2014. She was a wonderful inspiration, especially for her grace, humor, love, unselfishness, and patience. Barbara was secretary to the President of Columbia Theological Seminary for many years and was a member of Lithonia First United Methodist Church for more than two decades. Born and raised near Boston, MA, she never lost affection for her beloved Cape Cod. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband of 68 years, Cal; daughter, Christine Williams and her husband, Calvin, of Houston, TX; son, Conrad Cheney and his wife, Johnnie, of Loganville; sister, Nancy Manchester, of MA; grandchildren, Jason, Caley, Carson, Dylan, Melissa, Kasey, Heather, Erin, and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Lily, Mary, Sam, Matthew, Chance, Bryce, Finley, and Savannah; nieces and nephews. Her example and traditions will carry on through her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 3, at Lithonia First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Leon Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lithonia First United Methodist Church.
