Barbara Carter

Barbara King Carter, age 88, resident of Social Circle, Georgia, died April 22, 2025. Born July 23, 1936, Mrs. Carter was formerly of Lithonia and retired from the Georgia State Patrol after 27 dedicated years of service. Dependability and selflessness were other traits she demonstrated throughout her life, particularly in her role as caregiver to many family members. Another title she wore proudly was PTA President when her boys were school age. Additionally, Mrs. Carter was a member of Mount Pleasant UMC in Social Circle. Her delicious banana bread was a testament to her love for baking. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, GA Bulldogs, and Elvis. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald R. Carter; parents, Luther & Lila King; siblings, Raymond King, Walter King (Faye), Charles King, and Ralph King; daughter-in-law, Sherry Carter; special nephew, Phillip King. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Don Carter, Michael & Sharon Carter; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and extended family. A graveside service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. The family will receive friends Friday, April 25, from 6-8 PM at Henry Funeral Home, 6833 Church Street, Lithonia. Flowers are accepted, or in her memory, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
