Mr. Artice Sangster, age 88, of Conyers, Georgia, died on February 22, 2024.
Known by many nicknames including "A.J". and "Artie", he was a dedicated, loving and talented man. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. His commitment to service extended to his local community where he was a 50-year+ member of the Lithonia Masonic Lodge #84 F. & A.M. holding the position of Worshipful Master in 1973. Mr. Sangster was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia.
A fix-it man, he had a knack for repairing small engines showcasing his talent and thoughtfulness as he often helped others with their lawnmower problems. He found great joy in visiting the mountains, dune buggy riding with friends and was a passionate Little League coach for many years. His love for sports, particularly those in which his children and grandchildren were involved, was indicative of his deepest love and commitment, his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colson & Ola Sangster. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Martha Sangster; children, Scotty (Sandi) Sangster, Brenda Sangster, and Rick Sangster; sisters, Jean, Linda Faye, and Betty; brother, Roger; grandchildren, Shelly, Philip, Charlotte, and McKenzie; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation for Mr. Sangster will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, 6616 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, GA 30058, beginning at 11 o'clock with his funeral service to follow at 12:00 Noon.
