Service: 3 o'clock, Monday, March 26, 2018 Place: Lithonia First United Methodist Church Visiation: 1:30-2:30, Monday, March 26, 2018 Place: Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia It is with great sadness that the family of Alta Jean Tarpley announces her passing away after a long battle with dementia, on March 23, 2018, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alvin Webb and Hattie Lee Fowler Webb; her loving spouse, Ernest Tarpley; and five sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children, Ernest (Ann) Tarpley, Donna Staton, and Randall (Audi) Tarpley; grandchildren, Cheri (Hector) Dourron, Jason (Georgette) Tarpley, Kimberley (Matt) Backer, Jennifer (Jon) Chandler, Rebecca (Dustin) LuVisi, Tonya (Larry) Campbell, April Tarpley, Eric (Brandi) Tarpley, and Jeremy (Tiffany) Tarpley; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews Mrs. Alta loved Jesus and was a very active member in her church, Lithonia First United Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher until her dementia prevented her from going. She loved her family more than anything and her hobbies were: painting, writing poems, gardening, woodworking, and reading. A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock Monday March 26 at the First United Methodist Church of Lithonia with Rev. Leon Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia
