Allie Gaynell Plunkett, age 96, of Conyers, died Saturday, February 14, 2015. A native of Lithonia, GA, she was born to Effie and Josh White on February 11, 1919. A 1936 graduate of Lithonia High School, Gaynell began her work career at Hutchins Mfg. Co. of Lithonia in 1938 and later worked at General Shoe, Pacific Overall of Conyers, and Saul Bros.Co of Atlanta, where she worked until she retired after 28 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Irene Cleland, Margie Lowe and Laverne Sprayberry; and her loving husband, James Andrew Plunkett, who after retiring in 1979, they traveled extensively all over the United States, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, Canada, Mexico, Nassau, Jamaica and Haiti. Her husband died February 23, 2006. Gaynell is survived by her sister, Clarice Richardson of Lithonia; many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Wednesday, February 18, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Myers and Rev. Stacy Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Alzheimers Assoc., 41 Perimeter Center E., Atlanta, GA, 30346.
