Alfred James Pomeroy, Jr., age 66, of Decatur, died April 6, 2023. Al was born in Atlanta, GA, to Alfred and Darline Pomeroy. He received his master's degree, honorability served his country in the United States Air Force, worked for many years as an independent quality control auditor for Quality Source International, was a published author of several books, and was President of the Georgia Chapter of Sons and Daughters of the Pearl Harbor's Survivors Association. Al was a member and Deacon of Light House Community Baptist Church in Stockbridge where he worked with the sound system. He enjoyed archery, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Al was a wonderful parent, very patriotic, and loved deeply by his family, He was preceded in death by his parents and sister; Olga Ione Pomeroy Matthews. Surviving are his wife of forty four years, Betty Powell Pomeroy of Decatur; daughter, Lisa Pomeroy Bramblett and husband, Kevin, of Monroe; sister, Ara White and husband, Terry, of Lithonia; grandchildren, Charles Anthony Buckner and wife, Sierra, of Monroe and Amber Kay and husband, Tyler of Acworth; great grandchildren, Avery Liam Buckner and "Peanut" on the way. A funeral service will be held 10 o'clock, Wednesday, April 12 in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Powell officiating. The interment will follow at Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 at Henry Funeral Home, 6833 Church Street, Lithonia, Georgia 30058.
